3. Transfer Type
Archival
transfer
involves bringing the original recording to its best possible
playability - usually through a physical treatment process and may involve
more laborious customized setup and calibration efforts for tapes that
exhibit “unusual” reproduction characteristics- then transferring to new
media "as is," without enhancement.
Duplication transfer
involves reproduction without physical treatment and a standard setup or
calibration for reproduction.
Audiovisual restoration
however, involves an additional stage, whereby the signal is processed to
remove
extraneous noise and improve upon the quality of the original.
