  ® Fisher Price PXL2000
1987

The PXL2000 Camcorder was marketed as “The first video camera/recorder designed especially for kids.” The black-and-white image produced by the camera was called “Pixelvision,” referring to the “pixels” or individual dots of information. The pixels created were larger than those in conventional TV images and therefore more noticeable. It was recommended to view the image on a screen of no more than 13". The battery-operated camera used high-bias chromium dioxide C-90 tape that recorded up to ten minutes or five minutes per side when using C-90 audiotape. The recording could be viewed through a television using a cable and video switch provided with the unit. The Deluxe system included a 4.5" black-and-white monitor. The unit was widely adopted by artists.
