    Like most other IVC recorders, the 801P used 1" tape in a relatively small and lightweight design. “P” models used “processed” color, color that was shifted down in frequency before recording and shifted back up afterwards. That made the color signal better able to deal with inconsistencies in the recording process. A similar technique is used in VHS.
