The VR-1000 was the first videotape recorder ever sold. It achieved its success by separating the writing speed (the speed at which information is recorded on the tape) from the tape speed through the use of spinning heads, a principle that has continued in every videotape format to date. It also introduced FM recording, used in every analog videotape format. |
