This is a progressive-video version of DVCPRO50. All 1997-and-earlier videotape formats recorded only interlaced video - video in which each frame was divided into two "fields", one comprised of all the odd-numbered scanning lines and the other of all the even. Thus, in 30-frame-per-second video, there are actually 60 half-vertical-resolution images per second. Progressive-scan signals contain all scanning lines in all images. DVCPRO50P can record 60 such images per second.
