A half-inch, component analog HDTV format, housed in a cassette similar to VHS, UniHi is often considered the "U-matic of HDTV" (but with much higher quality). Unlike HDV-1000 and HDD-1000, Sony was not the only manufacturer. Machines from Panasonic, too, were common.
