This was the first successful consumer videocassette. The record/play time was initially one hour but later increased to over five hours. Betamax HB raised the video frequency from a peak white of 4.8 MHz in regular Betamax to 5.6 MHz. Super Highand Beta increased the frequency even higher, to 6 MHz. A hit at first, Betamax later failed in the market place against the JVC/Matsushita VHS format.
