Known by the Panasonic name of "Omnivision", the EIAJ Cartridge recording format is identical to the open-reel EIAJ; it's only the cartridge that makes it different. The running time was only 30 minutes and the tape had to be entirely rewound before it could be removed from the deck. Because the threading system and captive takeup reel were so complex, tape jams were extremely difficult to clear.
